Fall Fun at White House Fruit Farm

If you live in Northeast Ohio, you’ve probably heard of White House Fruit Farm. Located in Greenford, Ohio, just south of Canfield, it’s a family-run farm and market. We pop in from time to time to browse their impressive selection of fresh fruit and vegetables and pick up a dozen of their delicious home-made donuts.

Imagine our surprise yesterday when we drove down and found the place packed! Many men would have turned around, but Dennis is one of a kind. Either that, or he really wanted a blueberry donut.

Come to find out, White House Fruit Farm hosts a Fall Festival for eight weekends every year, starting the weekend after Labor Day and ending the last weekend in October. The festival runs from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Pumpkin Pavilion and Gift Barn

We drove in, parked, and went to check out the displays.  After the Budgie Birdhouse where kids of all ages can feed hordes of parakeets for $2 each,  the pumpkins and gourds were the first things we saw. Seasonal displays were everywhere.

We walked into the Pumpkin Pavilion and Gift Barn. I could have spent a lot of money here, but we were on a mission and didn’t really “shop.” If you are looking for fall gifts or decorations, this is definitely a spot you’ll want to check out.

We refrained from purchasing the Ohio State totem pole.

Seasonal Food Vendors

We hadn’t had lunch, so we checked out the various vendors.  We ended up getting barbecued pork sliders to share (3 for $8), a chili dog for Dennis, and a baked potato bomb ($3). The baked potato was awesome–it came loaded with butter, sour cream, bacon,  and sweet corn relish.  While there were picnic tables available, we took our food over by the pond and sat down on one of the gliders to eat. While we were eating, we listened to the live music and watched the fountain in the middle of the pond. It was very peaceful, despite the number of people.

Family Fun

After eating, we check out the different fall festival activities. White House offers horse-drawn hayrides ($4), pony rides ($5), and a petting zoo (free). There were many free activities for children to do, including a playhouse and an area where they could bang on hanging pots and pans. There was also a paid fenced-in area that contained other activities for children. It was $5 for children under 17, and included a straw mountain with a slide, huge tubular swings, a rat race game that looked like a lot of fun, a scarecrow dressing area, and more.  We didn’t go in that area this time, but we’ll be sure to come back and check it out with the grandkids.

Farm Market

Eventually, we made our way into the market.  We checked out the deli,  had samples of cider and purchased a gallon. I got Cortland apples (my favorite),  and Dennis picked out some fudge. The donut line was shorter than I’d expected, so we purchased a half-dozen–two blueberry, two cherry, and two Butterfinger. White House is known for their apples (they grow twenty different varieties) and for their delicious blueberry donuts.

White House is known for home-made donuts. The blueberry ones are the most popular.

We had a great time at White House Fruit Farm and will definitely be back again later this season. I can’t wait to take Ady and Kairi–they’ll have so much fun!

Important Information

White House Fruit Farm is located at 9249 St. Rt. 62, in Canfield, Ohio. The farm market does accept Visa and Mastercard; however, many of the smaller vendors on site for the fall festival do not. An ATM is available for your convenience near the entrance to the farm market. Remember to take your cameras for great photos of the kids!
