If you live in Northwest Pennsylvania or Northeast Ohio, you’ve probably heard of Kraynak’s and Daffin’s. These two stores are located only two miles apart on the same street; one in Sharon, PA, and the other in Hermitage, PA. And, both of them are wonderful places to visit throughout the year. However, spring is an especially great time to take your family to visit these two shops.
Last Saturday we had two of the grandbabies for the day. Ady had gymnastics in downtown Sharon in the morning, so we decided to take her and Josh to visit some of our favorite Easter places–Daffin’s and Kraynak’s.
Daffin’s Candies
The Daffin’s Candies store has been a Sharon staple for many years. On Saturday, our main goal was to stop in and pick a few gifts to take to Meghan, Joe, and J.R. who are living in Colorado. Meg loves Daffin’s chocolate melt-away eggs, so that was a must. And, what’s Easter without a few of Daffin’s famous chocolate Peter Rabbits?
The New Center Display
Ady and Josh were immediately drawn to the new chocolate display in the middle of the store. The details were incredible! There was a unicorn, a fire-breathing dragon, deer, frogs, and a tree complete with castles entwined around its trunk and a nest tucked up in its branches. And all of these sculptures are made out of chocolate!
The Chocolate Kingdom
Don’t miss the original chocolate kingdom in the very back of the Daffin’s store. This is where you’ll find even more chocolate sculptures including three elephants, a reindeer, another turtle, a rhinoceros, train, Ferris wheel, and more. While we were in the back, an employee offered us a free chocolate sample and gave the kids bunny ears.
Candy, Gifts, and More
In addition to being a candy store, Daffin’s is also a Hallmark store and carries a wide variety of gifts. We didn’t get to look at much because the little ones were impatient, but Daffin’s has several aisles to browse.
Daffin’s: Know Before You Go
Daffin’s Candies is located at 496 East State Street in Sharon, Pennsylvania. The 20,000 square foot store is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. For more information, visit their website.
Swizzle Stick Day
For even more fun, consider visiting the Daffin’s factory on Spearman Avenue in nearby Farrell, Pennsylvania, the Sunday before Palm Sunday (two Sundays before Easter) for Swizzle Stick Day. You and your family will be able to tour the factory to see how the employees make their famous chocolates, and at the end of the tour, you will receive a free sample to try. The aroma of the melted chocolate on the tour is divine (and calorie free). This event is always a lot of fun!
Conclusion
Daffin’s Candies in Sharon, Pennsylvania, is a great place to visit, especially if you are looking for delicious, melt-in-your-mouth candy or unique gifts. The chocolate sculptures make great photo backdrops (if your toddler is willing to stand still). However, if you go, make sure to bring your wallet–you won’t be going home without some of their famous chocolates!

Do they offer free chocolates to every one?
How funny! Looks like a dream for any chocolate-lover! I grew up in Western Pennsylvania, but Sharon was a little far so we didn’t go often…sure looks like a lot of fun though!
