Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Tour, Part 1

For the July 4th weekend this year, Dennis and I wanted to stay somewhat local, yet visit something new or interesting. A nearby county boosts several covered bridges–not the most in the United States (that honor goes to Parke County, Indiana), but still quite a few.  Ashtabula County is located in the northeast corner of Ohio, halfway between Cleveland, Ohio, and Erie, Pennsylvania. The county is home to the longest and shortest covered bridges in the U.S.A. . as well as 17 other covered bridges. We decided that driving the self-guided covered bridge tour route would be a great way to spend our long weekend.

Where in the World is Donald Duck? Disney World, That Is

Headed to Disney World? Want to see your favorite duck? If you’re looking for places to find Donald Duck at Walt Disney World, here’s your list!

Donald Duck, that quick-tempered, yet lovable creature, is one of Disney’s Fab Five. Donald and his girlfriend Daisy are friends with Mickey, Minnie, and the gang.  “Born” in 1934,  Donald marks his 85th birthday on June 9 this year. Fans of Donald can find him throughout the parks, dressed in his iconic blue sailor suit with canary yellow trim and a bright red bow or in various other outfits. Donald is popular with fans of all ages, and even today’s little ones are familiar with Donald through his appearances on The Disney Channel’s Mickey Mouse Clubhouse program.

Looking to splurge a little on your next Walt Disney World adventure? Love exotic animals? Look no further–Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is for you!

While there are several impressive hotels on property, many of them are priced well beyond the scope of my everyday budget. However, when the opportunity to book the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Dennis’s dream hotel, came through the mail in the form of a generous pin code discount, I threw caution to the wind and booked it.

So, why should the average person splurge on Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge? There are several reasons, including the exotic animals, the magnificent lobby, the amazing restaurants, the impressive artwork, and the knowledgeable cultural ambassadors.

Donald’s Dino-Bash!

On our last trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon some new character experiences. Located in Dinoland U.S.A., these new meet and greets celebrate Donald Duck and friends. Donald’s Dino-Bash allows guests to meet up to eight different characters, including Donald, Daisy, Pluto, Goofy, Chip and Dale, Uncle Scrooge McDuck, and Launchpad McQuack.

Animal Kingdom was scheduled for the first day of our six day trip, and Donald’s Dino-Bash was Miss Ady’s first experience meeting characters. We literally found the first meet and greet by accident on the way to Dinosaur! The line was short, so we decided to go for it. Continue reading “Donald’s Dino-Bash!”

So, what is a Magic Band and why am I so excited?

Disney’s Harmony Barber Shop

On our way to the airport last month, my amazing husband mentioned that he hadn’t had time to get a haircut before vacation. (Never fear! Amazing wife here!) Since I am an avid reader, I know a few details that the average Disney Parks visitor may not know. In this case, I knew that there was a barber shop  located on the Town Square of  Main Street U.S.A. in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. I quickly whipped out my phone and made a reservation for the next day at Harmony Barber Shop. Continue reading “Disney’s Harmony Barber Shop”

Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade Dining Package

When planning our latest trip to the World, I stumbled across something I hadn’t heard of before, the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade Dining Package at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom.  The price was a little more than I’d normally pay for  lunch, but since we had just upgraded our free Disney Dining Plan, I thought “Why not?” and went ahead and booked it. What a great decision!
