Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party at the Magic Kingdom

Looking for something special to do with your family? Want to make your night at the Disney’s Magic Kingdom a little more romantic? Consider booking the Fireworks Dessert Party at the Tomorrowland Terrace.

What is the Fireworks Dessert Party?

The dessert party is a special event that takes place before or after (depending on which one you choose) the evening fireworks at Walt Disney World. The party guarantees you an important perk: a special viewing area for the Happily Ever After Fireworks Show.

Where does it take place?

The party takes place at the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant in…You guessed it–Tomorrowland. It’s actually easy to find. As you walk towards Cinderella Castle on Main Street U.S.A., turn right at the last building. Walk past the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and restaurant.  The large building in front of you will be Tomorrowland Terrace.

Why book the Fireworks Dessert Party?

In addition to mouth-watering desserts, guests who book the dessert party at the Magic Kingdom have a guaranteed area to watch the evening fireworks. This can easily save an hour or more of waiting to secure a spot and then having people squeeze in front of you at the last minute. Tickets to the Fireworks Dessert Party are limited, and when we were there during Thanksgiving week, the amount of people was perfect. It was not crowded at all, and we had a perfect view of the castle projections.

How much does it cost?

Unfortunately, the Fireworks Dessert Party is not budget-friendly. For a spot that includes terrace seating during the show (the lower area), adults will pay $84 each and children ages 3-9 will pay $50 each. Children under age 3 are free. Plaza Garden seating (which I prefer) is a little less expensive at $69 for adults and $41 for children. If it seems like you’re paying a lot for a few little sweets, you are correct. What you are really paying for is the view.

Terrace seating or garden view?

Guests can choose either Tomorrowland Terrace seating or a standing area in the Plaza Garden. The seating area is a little more expensive, and I actually prefer the garden view. Guests usually sit on the ground there until the Happily Ever After fireworks and projections start. When the show begins, most people stand. Happily Ever After takes about 18 minutes.

What will we have to eat?

While the menu is subject to change, it consists of a variety of items with both sweet and savory items. There were plenty of delicious desserts consisting of chocolate dipped strawberries,  character-themed desserts, ice cream, s’mores, and create your own cookies and cupcakes.  Savory snacks included cheese and crackers, mini egg rolls, and spinach dip. In addition, there were also several different drinks to choose from, including sparkling cider, lemonade, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

Helpful Hints

If you go in the winter months, you may want to pack a sweater. When the sun went down, the weather was much cooler. You might also want to bring a small blanket or towel to spread on the grass if you choose the garden.  Even though you have guaranteed seating, plan to arrive at the restaurant about 60 minutes prior to the show. This will give you plenty of time to eat and then stake out your spot in the garden. If you will be staying on the lower level of the terrace, arriving early will help you find a prime spot.

Go hungry. We purposely did not book a sit-down dinner the night we had our dessert party. Instead, we had a nice lunch and snacked throughout the early evening. While you can’t really make a dinner out of the dessert party, there is a decent variety of desserts, cheese and crackers, and fruit.

Pros and Cons

While the Fireworks Dessert Party provides a lot to love, there are a few disadvantages that must be mentioned. The party is expensive. There is no guarantee of fireworks; they are weather-permitting and subject to change at any time. Also, you may find out after you book the party, that the time has changed. This happened to us–when the park hours changed, the fireworks were pushed back one hour. Always check and find out the current schedule.

The dessert party isn’t for everyone. It’s expensive, and there is so much sugar. Children may not be able to stay awake long enough to enjoy the food and the show.

However, the Fireworks Dessert Party’s advantages outweighed the disadvantages. In true Disney fashion, the desserts were spectacular.  There was no need to buy a large dinner ahead of time. The viewing spot was ideal; no one had to sit and save a place just to lose it right at the beginning of the show. And afterwards, there was a quick behind the scenes exit that took you straight to the town square and park entrance.

Final Thoughts

I truly enjoyed the Fireworks Dessert Party at  Tomorrowland Terrace and would do it again in a heartbeat. The decadent dark time treats were delicious, and I loved the sparkling cider.  Because of the steep price tag, the dessert party was a treat–something we might do once a year or every few years.  With the castle projections, the Happily Ever After show is meant to be viewed  in front of the castle. The dessert party made this possible for us–we would not have fought the crowds to find a spot and had room to spread out.

  1. The dessert party is such an amazing idea. Ive seen fireworks at global village in Dubai. They too are extensive but this dessert party idea is cool.

  2. Thanks for the review! Could you give me more info on your “quick exit?” We’ve booked this for our upcoming trip, but we booked the after fireworks party to let the bus lines die down since we didn’t think we could get to the busses quickly from the garden viewing, but we have young children and would love to get out of there as quickly as possible.

    1. A lot of times after the fireworks, the cast members open the “floodgates” between Tomorrowland Terrace and the Plaza Restaurant. If you go that way, you’ll avoid Main Street U.S.A. You’ll come out by Tony’s Town Square Restaurant.

  3. I would love to have these desserts shown here. It is so exciting just to think about how delicious they are and how much fun I could have here.

  4. This is something I would totally do with my husband! It sounds incredible. You had me at dessert and fireworks. Lol. I’m a sucker for great desserts. I would agree on your point of paying for the view versus the food, but that is usually worth it.

  5. I can’t tell when I may cross the Atlantic, to visit Disneyland. I can tell how beautiful it is to be there. Like a fairy tale come true. Your pictures help us to get the feeling – I like that.

  6. First of all: this is such a cute idea combining fireworks and dessserts (I love sweets so much) second of all Disney is always a great idea. Everything combined totally means perfection!

  7. WOW, that sounds like an interesting experience. All that delicious dessert and the splendid view of the fireworks. I remember when so many years ago we stood for a long time thinking we had the price spot and just as the fireworks began, people came in front of us, blocking the view!

  8. This sounds like it is amazing. I have never heard of this at Disney before. We have not gone as a family and I have not been there in many years. I would like to do this if and when we do go.

  9. Wow 😍😋 I love dessert! I wish I could visit this place at the moment 😍 nevertheless… adding it to my wishlist! 🙂

  10. My ears and my saliva glands pricked up at ‘dessert party’. And fireworks too – it does sound like the full shebang is worth the cost, and would make a really special treat.

  11. Never been to disneyworld before but that seems like a really fun place and nice. And that dessert part is worth it.

  12. What an incredible opportunity to see the fireworks this close! I use to love Disney as a kid and I will be taking my girls to Disney Paris in a few months!

  13. Looks so much fun. I’ve never known anyone to go to Disneyworld and not enjoy it. The Firework Dessert Party does seem pricey, but sometimes it’s worth splashing out for something really special.

  14. I love your Disney posts because we too are Disney fanatics. I know exactly where everything is when people mention it in posts! Tomorrowland is one of the best places to see the Fireworks but I have never done the Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party. We usually grab some ice cream at the corner store or some Mickey Bars and plop down on the curb. We were disappointed when Wishes was changed but this new show is great! Whoever said the roof of the Contemporary is right. Great view. We’ve also done a lake cruise in the Seven Seas Lagoon for Fireworks and that was an awesome view. Love these posts!

  15. Wow! This is so magical. The price point is a bit high for me, but if I go one day and I feel like treating myself, I will totally check it out. The desserts look amazing! =D

  16. I’ve always wanted to do this. Every time I went to Disney (and I am a Florida resident) I always thought about doing it. I really think the next time I go (hopefully next year for my birthday), this will be a must do.

  17. A dessert party and fireworks sounds fantastic, the only thing that would make it better is having it on the Contemporary balcony, which in my humble opinion is the best view in Disney, plus no crowds.

    1. Disneyland has a similar dessert party for its fireworks show, the World of Color Dessert Party. There are also dessert parks at the other Florida Disney parks, including a new one at Animal Kingdom.
