On our way to the airport last month, my amazing husband mentioned that he hadn’t had time to get a haircut before vacation. (Never fear! Amazing wife here!) Since I am an avid reader, I know a few details that the average Disney Parks visitor may not know. In this case, I knew that there was a barber shop located on the Town Square of Main Street U.S.A. in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. I quickly whipped out my phone and made a reservation for the next day at Harmony Barber Shop.
Reservations
Reservations are recommended for Harmony Barber Shop. To make a reservation, call 1-407-WDW-PLAY ( 1-407-939-7529). You will be asked for a credit card to guarantee your reservation. There will be a $10 fee if you don’t show up for your appointment or cancel within 24 hours of your time.
There are a limited number of walk-in appointments each day, but it is on a first come, first served basis.
Hours
Harmony Barber Shop has limited hours, usually opening around 9:00 a.m. and closing by 5:30 p.m.
Directions
When entering the Magic Kingdom, use the tunnel on the left. Walk past City Hall and the fire station. Harmony Barber Shop will be straight ahead, tucked into a corner beside the side door of the Emporium. The facade is unassuming, so watch for the distinctive red and white striped pole out front.
Services
The Harmony Barber Shop offers haircuts for both adults and children. I first discovered the shop back in 2002 when my boys were young. They were fascinated by the haircuts, glow-in the dark gel, and pixie dust. We didn’t ask for any of that this trip–it’s just not Dennis’s style these days!
If you’re lucky, the Barber Shop quartet, the Dapper Dans may serenade you while you are having your hair trimmed. We’ve never been there at the right time, but you never know!
Prices
Standard haircuts are $19 for adults and $18 for children. If you only want your bangs trimmed, the price is a reasonable $7. Beard trimming is also $7.
One popular service is the Baby’s First Haircut package. A haircut, special certificate, and special mouse ears are included in the price of $25. It’s a wonderful way to make a special event out of that first haircut.
You can pay with cash, credit card, or by using your magic band connected to a room charge. Remember to bring cash to tip your stylist.
Know Before You Go
While the stylists do occasionally spray water on hair to dampen it before cutting, they do not shampoo hair. Please come with clean, dry hair.
Final Thoughts on Disney’s Harmony Barber Shop
Dennis was more than pleased with his haircut. Our appointment was at 3:00 (parade time), but we arrived at 2:30 and were finished by 2:50. Since we were watching the parade from the reserved viewing area in front of the flag pole, this worked out perfectly.
Woah those are actually pretty affordable prices! I love the first haircut idea, perfect for the die-hard Disney parents
Great info. Who would ever think you can get a haircut at Disney? Thank you for sharing.
I had no clue there was a barber shop inside Magic Kingdom! This was intriguing as I read your blog title today, to say the least. I figured the prices would be something close to ridiculous too, but they are absolutely reasonable. I love the idea of doing the baby’s first haircut here. What a fun experience! I can’t wait to read your post about your granddaughter’s experience with it.
The prices of the haircuts are so decent! And the place looks so neat. Something i havent seen in many barber shops!
Wow those are really reasonable prices for cuts! I would have thought that in the park it would have been much more expensive for a service like this! That’s really awesome! And I love the baby’s first cut idea, so cute!
Baby’s first haircut at Disney what a great idea! I’ll be spreading the word to my Disney fan friends that this service exists. So cute!
The prices sound the same as a normal barbers shop. I would have expected them to be more expensive. It’s a shame you’ve never caught the Dapper Dans. I guess you need to keep going back.
There is really nothing that Disney hasn’t thought of and I pass this place every time I go into the park. Never realized how reasonable the prices are considering it’s in the Magic Kingdom. Walt really captured his hometown feel on Main Street. It all started with a mouse!
Disney is truly a magical kingdom. What a great place to have a haircut, the chance to be serenaded and get Mickey ears. What a treat! It also sounds like it’s fairly easy to get an appointment and doesn’t take long, so you won’t miss the parade.
I have been to Magic Kingdom but never knew about this. It is nice to know that there is barber shop in there. The price seems reasonable. I would love to try on my bangs on my next visit.
I never knew there was a barber shop until I saw it in a vlog. The Mickey ears they give with the baby’s first haircut package is so cute!
We went for our granddaughter’s first haircut in October, but I haven’t had a chance to write about it yet. When she looked in the mirror, the expression on her face was adorable.
We just went to disneyland and they have something similar!
Interesting! I never thought they have a barber shop there but I can imagine it’s magical as well!
how cool is this! i would love to try this as im sure it is a fun unique experience!
Old fashion barber shops are not so common. I remember when we were little, my dad will take my brother to the barber shop to have his hair cut.
I would LOVE to work somewhere like that! Love the old school barber shop feel.
It is hard to find a place where the is a real barber shop, It is even harder to fine or at least i have never hear of it but a first baby’s haircut.
Old fashion barber shops are hard to find. This is pretty cool!
I never would’ve guessed that there’d be a barber shop in Disney! The decor looks gorgeous too!
How awesome is that? I would have never guessed that there was a real barber shop in Disney World.
