Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf

Looking for something fun to do at Walt Disney World on your day off from the parks? Check out Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf.

Where Is Winter Summerland?

Located at the entrance to the Blizzard Beach Water Park on West Buena Vista Drive in Orlando, Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf is fun for the entire family.  If you’re staying at a Disney resort, just take the bus headed for Blizzard Beach. When you walk past the entrance to the park, you’ll see the sign for Winter Summerland.

The Legend of Blizzard Beach and Winter Summerland Miniature Golf

The theme of Winter Summerland Miniature Golf fits right in with that of Blizzard Beach. According to Disney lore, Blizzard Beach was established after a freak snowstorm in Florida. Because of the amount of snow and ice deposited after the storm, enterprising entrepreneurs decided to open Florida’s first ski resort. However, the snow didn’t last long and what started out as a ski resort soon became Blizzard Beach Water Park as the snow melted.

Before the snow had a chance to melt, Santa decided to bring Mrs. Claus and the elves to Central Florida for a much deserved summer vacation. Not content with just a water park, the elves, mischievous little creatures that they are, wanted to build a miniature gift course, but couldn’t agree on whether it should be summer-themed or winter. Luckily for us, they built both.

This would make a great Christmas card photo!

Arriving

When you arrive at the check-in camper drawn by Santa’s sleigh, you’ll be asked which course you want to play. Both 18 hole courses at Winter Summerland are of equal difficulty, so it’s really whichever theme you like better or how long you want to wait. Start times are staggered so that each group is not rushed. If there is a wait, you’ll be given a time to return. We were there on a Friday morning in August, and there was no wait.

The Elfstream Trailer is where you check in to play miniature golf at Winter Summerland.
The details are so cute! I love the Elfstream trailer.

Adults were $14.00 each, and children (ages 3-9) were $12.00. If you purchase a vacation package through the Walt Disney World Travel Company, check the the sides of the box for the vacation extras coupons. Ours included free miniature golf vouchers. Annual passholders and DVC member do receive a small discount.

Useful Information

Restrooms are located behind Santa’s sleigh and the check-in trailer. Sleighbelles are to the left; Snowmen are to the right. Lockers are also available here. The check-in camper sells Disney souvenirs, beach towels, sunscreen, snacks, and drinks. There is also a vending machine with bottles of soda and water halfway through each course.  If you do need to wait your turn, there is a covered picnic area by the snack stand.

Remember to Take Your Camera

Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course is a family photographer’s dream. It’s the perfect place to have your Christmas card photos taken. Just ask someone to take your family’s photo for you–no one has ever turned me down.

Santa’s sleigh would look great on your family’s Christmas cards! Take your picture from the other side so that the steps don’t show.

So, Which Course Did We Choose?

Winter, of course! We come from a family of Christmas tree farmers. Check out Mom and Dad’s farm in Northeast Ohio here.

We had great fun! I especially liked the music–the Beach Boys’ Christmas Album has long been one of my favorites. The garland and Christmas lights really set the scene. And, in certain places, there were even bubble floating down, resembling snowflakes.

The signs at each hole were fun to read. They all rhymed as they told their story.

Winter sports, such as ice fishing, hockey, skiing, and ice skating, were represented. I snuck a peek at the other side and saw fishing, tubing, swimming, and surfing.

Our side had a huge castle of snow and ice halfway through. The other side had a sand castle. This is the hole where the vending machine is located.

We ended up in Santa’s workshop. The computers at the end were dated, but cute. I was happy to see that my name was not on the naughty list.

Final Thoughts

We really enjoyed our visit to Winter Summerland, and would definitely come back again. Here’ a tip for you: If you save your ticket stub, you can come back and play the other side for half price.  I’m hoping to play the summer side on a future trip.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Frosty was no match for the Florida heat!
